AC/DC D1SE DIN rail power supplies from TDK-Lambda

Industrial and building automation components often require connection to a direct current source, typically to a 24V DC installation. TDK-Lambda power supplies provide such power safely, with high efficiency and minimal risk of failure – even in the presence of harmful chemical compounds.

Below we present the new offer of AC/DC switching power supplies from the renowned brand TDK-Lambda. These products are characterised by exceptional durability (MTBF of up to 2.43 million hours) and performance. These products are available in various versions, directly from TME warehouses. We recommend this offer especially to customers interested in universal and affordable DC power supplies.

In this article, we cover the following topics:

Division and general characteristics of the D1SE series power supplies

Design of the converters and their easy installation

Specification and benefits of the D1SE series

The D1SE series includes devices with power ratings of 120, 240, and 480W. In each of these groups, special models are available with additional indicators and contacts signalling proper output operation and a protective PCB coating. It is used to protect the circuit from volatile chemical compounds with corrosive properties (hydrogen sulphide, sulphur oxide, nitrogen dioxide, chlorine) and salt-containing vapours (NaCl).

The power supplies are designed to provide durable and cost-effective power for devices requiring 24V DC voltage (at currents up to 20A). They feature efficiencies up to 95.1% and have integrated overcurrent (OCP), undervoltage (UVP), overvoltage (OVP), and thermal (OTP) protections. The power source can be a typical network installation (single-phase, 90…264V AC) or direct current with a voltage value from 93V to 300V DC.

Among the greatest advantages of the D1SE devices are:

  • High efficiency due to the use of efficient semiconductors
  • Reliability estimated by the manufacturer at 2.43 million hours (MTBF)
  • Design allowing for efficient, passive cooling
  • Versatility, suitable for use in industrial (automation), commercial, residential buildings

Design and connection

It is worth noting that the manufacturer, TDK-Lambda, has focused on simplicity and maximum installation convenience. The D1SE power supplies are placed in housings for DIN rail mounting (TH35) and feature spring terminals (no tools required): input at the bottom of the panel (5) and output at the top (1). The output voltage can be adjusted from 22.5…29V DC using a potentiometer (2).

Depending on the model, the power supply has a LED ‘DC OK’ indicator (3) or is equipped with a relay output (4) with the same functionality. They are usually used to signal faults (overload, short circuit) outside the control cabinet or for automatic power disconnection.

Additionally, the front of the housing features a module labelling area (6) and a QR code (7) directing to the manufacturer’s page and device documentation.
