The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) says global semiconductor sales were $64.9 billion during the month of August 2025, an increase of 21.7% compared to the August 2024 total of $53.3 billion and 4.4% more than the July 2025 total of $62.1 billion.
AsiaPacific and All Other led the way chalking up a year on year 43.1 per cent increase, followed by the Americas where sales surged 25.5 per cent. Sales in China grew 12.4 per cent against August last year and European sales edged forward 4.4 per cent.
Japan was the only loser seeing sales fall 9 per cent.
Sequentially sales in Asia Pacific/All Other leapt 6.9 per cent, and the Americas advanced 4.3 per cent. China sales were up 3.3 per cent compared with July, while Japan sales rose 2 per cent and Europe were up 1 per cent.
“Global semiconductor sales continued to grow in August, far exceeding sales in August of last year,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “Sales in the Asia Pacific region and the Americas continue to drive growth, with sales of memory and logic chips notably increasing.”
Monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization and represent a three-month moving average. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.
