JAGGAER, a global enterprise specialising in procurement and supplier collaboration, has published its third Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) Impact Report for 2023.
The report details the company’s efforts to support customers in managing and automating complex processes while fostering a resilient and accountable supplier base. By integrating ESG principles into its software and solutions, JAGGAER aims to assist customers and stakeholders in achieving their sustainability goals.
The report also highlights the company’s commitment to implementing ESG best practices internally. In his introduction to the report, JAGGAER CEO Andy Hovancik stated: “I’m thrilled to serve as a catalyst for accelerating business outcomes with JAGGAER’s thousands of global customers and partners. Our latest ESG Impact Report recognises enhancements to our best-in-class ESG offering for customers, engaging environment for our talent, and ambitious environmental targets in 2023.”
Hovancik further emphasised JAGGAER’s role in helping customers have a positive impact on both society and the environment through its technology: “Our technology is playing an increasingly important role in helping customers make a positive impact on the environment and society and improve governance through greater transparency.”
JAGGAER’s ESG efforts have received external recognition. In 2023, the company was awarded a Silver Medal by EcoVadis, a leading provider of business sustainability ratings. This ranking places JAGGAER in the top 9% of the ‘Data processing, hosting, and related activities industry’ and in the top 20% of all companies rated by EcoVadis during the year.
The company’s ESG targets are driven by its business sponsor, Cinven, which is a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI). Below are key highlights from JAGGAER’s latest ESG report:
Environmental
JAGGAER reports significant progress towards its Plan Zero emission targets, verified by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi). Since 2021, the company has reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 28%. Additionally, Scope 3 emissions, which account for 92% of JAGGAER’s total emissions, have also seen a marked reduction. This progress has been partly attributed to JAGGAER’s transition to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud-based hosting.
Social
The report details JAGGAER’s community engagement and talent management initiatives. In 2023, employee participation in the company’s paid volunteer programme increased by 156%, resulting in over 300 hours of volunteer work in local communities.
The company has also been recognised for its focus on employee wellbeing, being named a 2023 Gallagher Best-in-Class Employer in North America. JAGGAER made strides in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as well, with women now representing 42% of the global workforce and 43% of the Executive Leadership Team, up from 33% the previous year. The workforce spans 40 nationalities.
Governance
JAGGAER made further advancements in governance in 2023. Jeff Laborde, CFO and ESG Sponsor, noted: “I am working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, the ESG Task Force and ESG Manager to ensure that we approach ESG holistically. In terms of our overall orientation, we aim to be adaptable to the business environment by embracing changing customer demands, regulations, and expectations for innovation with products, partners, and processes.”
As data privacy and information security are key concerns for JAGGAER, the company remains transparent about its best practices. The 2023 report outlines its Security and Compliance Certifications and Assurance, mandatory compliance training achievements, and related goals.
An example of JAGGAER’s proactive stance in 2023 was its update of security policies in response to developments in artificial intelligence (AI). The company is currently aligning its AI practices with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and is monitoring regulatory developments such as the ISO 42001 standard.
Laborde added: “Our approach to AI is top-down, with responsible use guidance now included in our Information Security Policy and training.”
