Rutronik is offering Molex’s USB Type-C receptacle

The Rutronik USB portfolio includes the versatile Type C connectors from Molex, which are suitable for automotive applications.

The user-friendly, robust USB Type C receptacle support currents of up to 5.0A and speeds of up to 40Gbit/s. Whether as a top, mid or vertical mounting option and with 16 or 24 circuits, the connectors enable a wide range of individual designs for an optimal user experience. With USB-C set to become the standard for charging cables for small electronic devices (such as smartphones and tablets) by the end of 2024, and for notebooks by spring 2026, the demand for multiple USB-C and Power Delivery ports in cars is increasing. This means that consumers will soon be able to quickly charge all their devices (including laptops and tablets) via USB-C and use new functions such as smart mirroring for entertainment in the back seats.
