Tark Thermal Solutions expands US manufacturing operation

Tark Thermal Solutions (TTS) is expanding its manufacturing, engineering, and testing capabilities for thermoelectric components and systems in North Carolina with a move to a new facility in Durham, North Carolina, which will serve as TTS’ Global Thermoelectric Technology Centre.

The $5.5 million investment will more than double TTS’ US production space for thermoelectric components, allowing TTS to support rapidly growing customer programmes and increasing demand across its strategic high-technology markets in North America. JLL, a global commercial real estate services and investment management company, advised TTS on the transaction and facilitated the lease for the new facility.

The new facility will provide expanded infrastructure for manufacturing, engineering, product development, and testing, enabling TTS to increase production capacity, accelerate development activities, and support customers as their programmes move from initial engineering and validation through production. The investment includes controlled environment rooms for highly automated semiconductor manufacturing processes as well as advanced prototyping and testing capabilities within TTS’ Global Thermoelectric Technology Centre.


The expansion supports TTS’ continued growth across the medical, life sciences/analytics, telecommunications, and data centre markets, where increasing power densities, system complexity, and performance requirements create new thermal management challenges. Thermoelectric components are a key technology for the cooling of optical transceivers, a crucial building block of high-speed data networks, and other optoelectronic systems as well as advanced sensor solutions for material analysis systems or autonomous vehicles.

Combined with reduced utility costs through higher-efficiency electrical infrastructure and modernised climate control, we free up capital that can be reinvested in the business while we grow our support for customers in North America and Europe.”

The new operation will be located in close proximity to the Research Triangle Park in Durham. The facility will provide TTS with a purpose-built environment for production, R&D, laboratory and office activities, with construction expected to be completed in January 2027 and operations transitioning to the new location shortly afterward.

Expanding in the Durham area provides TTS with access to one of the leading US hubs for innovation, research, and advanced manufacturing, preserving proximity to the talent, suppliers, and research institutions that support long-term growth.
