Waldom Electronics celebrates solar panel ribbon cutting

Last week, Waldom Electronics welcomed guests, partners, and local officials to its Georgetown, Ohio facility for a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the installation of 508 rooftop solar panels.

This milestone marks a major step forward in Waldom’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The event began with remarks from Waldom CEO Don Akery, who emphasised the long-term environmental benefits of the new solar system. According to estimates from the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies Calculator, the system will offset more than 5,900 tonnes of COâ‚‚ over the next 20 years – the equivalent of eliminating 13.5 million miles driven by gas-powered vehicles or planting nearly 89,000 trees.


“These panels will offset approximately 30,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each month,” said Akery. “That’s enough to power over 30 average US homes. It’s a powerful example of how innovation and sustainability can work hand in hand.”

The project also aligns with Waldom’s larger environmental goals, including the company’s Green Stock Programme and global tree-planting initiative, which are helping to drive a more circular and responsible electronics supply chain.

Georgetown Mayor Kelly Bolington also addressed the crowd, highlighting Waldom’s positive impact on the local community and its role as a sustainability leader in the region.

The ceremony concluded with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, symbolising the official launch of the solar energy system. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the facility following the ceremony.

This event marks another important step in Waldom’s mission to create a healthier planet through sustainable business practices and responsible innovation.
