At embedded world 2025, Electronic Specifier’s Managing Editor, Paige West, talks to George Dickey, Global Technology Leader at  Arrow Electronics  all about artificial intelligence (AI) and what challenges their customers are facing when designing and building AI products.

With the rise of AI in industrial automation, automotive, healthcare, and consumer electronics, developers must consider power efficiency, model optimisation, and real-time processing constraints. These factors drive the need for specialised AI accelerators, optimised frameworks, and robust development tools that simplify deployment.

One of the major hurdles facing engineers is balancing performance and efficiency while keeping AI models lightweight enough for embedded applications. Engineers are increasingly looking for solutions that allow AI inferencing at the Edge without compromising battery life or increasing costs. Security also remains a top concern, as AI-driven devices must be resilient against cyber threats while handling sensitive data responsibly.
