Avnet launches new brand to consolidate compute design

Avnet has introduced a new product brand, Tria, along with a corresponding business entity, Tria Technologies, aimed at consolidating its compute design and manufacturing operations.

The Tria brand will now encompass Avnet’s embedded compute boards, systems, and related design and manufacturing services.

“The new brand embodies Avnet’s unique ability to deliver standalone modular embedded compute solutions in a world where OEMs are increasingly looking to move from their own chip-down manufacturing to part- or full- pre-made embedded compute platforms,” said Thomas Staudinger, President of Embedded Solutions, Avnet. “It brings together all of Avnet’s compute design and manufacturing capabilities under one brand.”

Tria Technologies will be responsible for designing and manufacturing standard embedded compute products, as well as creating custom designs tailored to specific customer projects. The Tria range promises to expedite the journey from design to mass production, delivering superior products while mitigating risks to customers’ business models. Tria modules can be integrated directly into product designs or customised further, offering OEMs substantial computing capabilities without the need to start from scratch or settle for off-the-shelf compute solutions.

“Tria products and services add significant value for Avnet customers and are a differentiator for the company’s supplier partners,” said Phil Gallagher, Avnet CEO. “As more OEMs look to offload risk and outsource complex manufacturing, they are moving to a modular approach with minimal compromise in size or capability. Avnet, through Tria, is uniquely positioned to help customers deliver on this strategy.”

The Tria brand signifies a global network of design and manufacturing prowess, with teams located in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. It builds on Avnet’s established expertise in embedded compute and advanced application solutions, leveraging in-house design and manufacturing facilities in Europe and extended capabilities in North America and Asia.

“By bringing these teams together under one new global brand, Avnet is addressing a need we see from our customers for comprehensive embedded compute and system design and manufacturing solutions,” explained Staudinger. “Tria represents a step change in what OEMs can achieve in their product design by making it easier to leverage the latest technology and get ahead of the competition.”

Tria Technologies will draw on decades of experience in providing compute and system design services to OEMs worldwide, contributing technology to diverse sectors from medical devices to household appliances for renowned global brands. Tria’s compute modules have received industry accolades and work closely with partners such as Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. The business will continue as a wholly owned subsidiary of Avnet, integrating with Avnet’s global distribution network and collaborating with its other solution-oriented divisions.
