Mouser expands ESD protection range

Mouser Electronics has expanded its selection of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection components.

As electronic devices continue to advance and shrink in size, ensuring effective ESD protection has become increasingly crucial. Implementing ESD protection measures is essential to maintaining device reliability and preventing both immediate and long-term damage to electronic components caused by ESD events. These protection components are now a fundamental aspect of modern electronics, safeguarding sensitive devices across various applications, including consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and automotive systems.

Mouser has introduced a variety of new ESD protection products, including:

With the automotive industry experiencing significant electrification and digitalisation, ESD protection is of utmost importance. Texas Instruments’ ESD2CANx-Q1 ESD protection diodes are AEC-Q101 qualified and designed to handle contact ESD strikes as per the ISO 10605 automotive standard. These diodes feature a 36V working voltage and a typical low IO capacitance of 2.8pF per channel, with a pin-out suitable for two automotive controller area network (CAN) bus lines (CANH and CANL). They offer long-term protection for in-vehicle networks (IVNs) like CAN-FD, low fault-tolerant CAN, and high-speed CAN systems, as well as industrial control networks like DeviceNet and CANopen.

In our interconnected digital world, both wireless and wired communication are essential. Nexperia’s PESDxVF1BALS-Q bidirectional ESD protection diodes are designed for communication applications such as NFC, antennas, and high-speed data lines. These ultra-low capacitance diodes provide ESD protection up to ±15kV per IEC 61000-4-2 standards, and their compact size (1 x 0.6 x 0.47mm) makes them ideal for space-constrained designs. Their wide ambient temperature range of -55 to +150°C and AEC-Q101 qualification also make them suitable for harsh environments, including automotive applications.

Littelfuse’s AQ1205-01UTG bidirectional discrete TVS diodes utilise its unique silicon avalanche technology. These diodes are versatile and can be used in automotive applications, battery protection and management systems, computers and peripherals, medical equipment, consumer electronics, and test instrumentation. The AQ1205-01UTG TVS diode can absorb repetitive ESD strikes of ±30kV (contact and air discharge) per IEC 61000-4-2 standards without performance degradation. These diodes have a reverse leakage current of 20nA (at 4.5V) and a maximum capacitance of 9pF. They are AEC-Q101 qualified and PPAP capable, ensuring smooth integration into suitable designs.

PANJIT Semiconductor’s PE1403M1Q diode, housed in a compact DFN1006-2L package, provides ESD protection with low leakage current, ultra-low capacitance, 0.88Ω dynamic resistance, and low clamping voltage. This diode is suitable for a wide range of electronic applications, offering protection against lightning-induced voltage transients as per IEC 61000-4-5, EFT effects, and ESD strikes of ±18kV in air or ±15kV in contact. The PE1403M1Q diode complies fully with EU RoHS 2.0, is lead-free, and its terminals are solderable per MIL-STD-750, method 2026, ensuring reliable installation.
