NVIDIA reports 78% growth amid surging AI demand

NVIDIA has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter, showcasing significant growth driven by heightened demand for its AI technologies.

Fourth-quarter highlights:

  • Revenue: $39.3 billion, a 12% increase from the previous quarter and a 78% rise compared to the same period last year
  • Data centre revenue: $35.6 billion, up 16% from the previous quarter and 93% year-over-year
  • Net income: $22.1 billion, reflecting an 80% increase from the same period last year

The company’s robust performance is largely attributed to the successful production and sales of its Blackwell AI supercomputers.

Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s Founder and CEO, stated: “Demand for Blackwell is amazing as reasoning AI adds another scaling law – increasing compute for training makes models smarter, and increasing compute for long thinking makes the answer smarter.”

Fiscal year 2025 overview:

  • Total revenue: $130.5 billion, marking a 114% increase from the previous year
  • Gross margin: 75.0%, up 2.3 percentage points from the prior year
  • Net income: $72.9 billion, a 145% surge year-over-year

Looking ahead, NVIDIA projects first-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of $43.0 billion, plus or minus 2%. This optimistic forecast is underpinned by the escalating adoption of AI across various industries and the company’s strategic role in significant projects like the $500 billion Stargate Project, where NVIDIA serves as a key technology partner.

Despite these positive results, NVIDIA’s shares experienced slight fluctuations in after-hours trading, initially dipping by 0.5% but later rising by 2.5% as investors assessed the company’s outlook. Analysts remain attentive to potential challenges, including competition from emerging AI models and geopolitical factors that could impact supply chains.
