Who is Ventec?

Ventec is a 25-year-old electronics manufacturer headquartered in Taiwan and China, with 90% of its manufacturing capacity based in China. It operates using a “one-stop shop” model offering its customers laminates, prepregs, assembly consumables, and process equipment targeting industries such as automotive, aerospace and defence, industrial, and medical.

Ventec’s offering

Some of Ventec’s products include:

  • Signal integrity and RF: its low-loss laminates and prepregs are designed for high-frequency applications
  • Thermal management: materials designed of thigh heat dissipation in power electronics
  • Core laminates and prepregs: standard and advanced dielectrics for general purpose and specialised applications
  • Bondply and hole-fill prepregs: ensures multilayer board bonding and via filling
  • Flex-rigid and coverlays: ultra-thin flexible laminates and protective layers

Products across its portfolio are notable for being lead-free and halogen-free, with low dk/df consistency, CAF resistance, and compliance with regulation including UL, IPC-4101, RoHS, and REACH. Both RoHS and REACH are directives established to address the impact of chemical substances on human health. By making its laminate and prepreg materials for PCB production halogen-free, it protects the entire value chain and saves its customers costs and delays related to sourcing alternative materials, Ventec said.

Improving manufacturing capacity

With its establishment in 2000, Ventec has gone from strength to strength, founding Global Ventec Laminates as a joint venture in Europe in 2006; founding Ventec Europe in Germany in 2010; merging with TMT Trading in 2016 to expand its material and consumable portfolio, adding materials, foils, coatings, and clean-room products to its offering; and in 2019, it began trading on the Taiwanese Stock Exchange.

It has focused on expanding its manufacturing capabilities as Thailand was chosen to house its next PCB materials manufacturing facility, costing approximately $17 million in 2024, as part of the company’s commitment to strengthen global supply chain resiliency and improve customer proximity; the former of which has been particularly poignant in a tough economic environment shaped by Trump’s announcement of tariffs imposed on industries including electronics. In July 2024, Ventec joined the Printed Circuit Board Association of America to advocate for supply chain resilience and domestic PCB manufacturing in the US.

Additionally, in Kirchheimbolanden, Germany, where Ventec Europe was founded, two facilities will be merged into one production and logistics hub, complete with cleanrooms, drilling halls, and warehouse space. As part of the project, Ventec will upgrade a 13,000 square foot campus and a new 1,800 square metre warehouse.

Looking forward, Ventec’s focus on improving supply chain resilience and strengthening its own production will stand it in good stead to weather potential challenges, and support it in its mission expanding across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
