Farnell wins prestigious ESG award

Farnell has been named as the winner of Waldom ESG Awards 2023 – Regional Distributor EMEA.

As the only ESG award in the IP&E (Interconnect, Passive, and Electromechanical) Distribution industry, this recognition recognises Farnell’s commitment to reducing e-waste by purchasing components that are in perfect condition but would have otherwise ended up in landfill after becoming excess stock for another distributor.

e-waste, or electronic waste, is one of the fastest-growing environmental issues globally, exposing harmful materials that can contaminate soil and water. By choosing Waldom Green Stock, Farnell directly saved 4,439,242 components from entering landfill, instead giving components a second life.

The Waldom ESG Awards aim to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of supplier and distributor partners in minimising waste and fostering a circular economy through Waldom’s Green Stock Programme.

Through the ESG Awards, Waldom aim to inspire and motivate partners to continue their journey towards a more sustainable and responsible future. Eligible distributors are those purchasing Waldom’s Green Stock and utilising Waldom’s excess solutions to handle their excess.

Don Akery, CEO of Waldom Electronics, said: “Farnell’s dedication to sustainability is a true inspiration, and we are proud to recognise them as a leader in reducing e-waste.”

Rebeca Obregon, Farnell Global President, said: “As an organisation, Farnell is committed to understanding and reducing our impact on our environment. We are delighted therefore to receive this award from Waldom Electronics in recognition of this and we look forward to working in partnership with them to continue to make a positive impact through our operations, and value chain.”
