In just a few weeks, electronica, the trade fair for electronics, will return to Munich alongside SEMICON Europa.
From 12-15th November, over 3,000 exhibitors from around the globe will showcase their latest innovations. The event will feature a robust supporting programme, including forums, conferences, and special events. This year, electronica will provide a platform for global dialogue, driving the vision of the All Electric Society – a future where energy needs are met entirely by CO²-neutral electricity.
Exhibition Director Katja Stolle highlighted the event’s success, stating: “electronica 2024 is already a great success. We have 18 full halls, an excellent supporting programme, and there is a palpable sense of excitement from exhibitors for this year’s trade fair.”
Many industry experts will be sharing insights and practical knowledge through presentations and discussions at the electronica forums. Taking place across six stages in the respective exhibition areas, the forums will address a wide range of electronics applications, from automotive technology and electrical connectors to embedded systems, IIoT, and power electronics. For 2024, the programme has been expanded to include new focus areas such as AI machine learning and women in technology.
Key industry conferences: automotive and wireless trends
Two significant international conferences will run concurrently with electronica at the International Congress Centre Munich (ICM). On 11th November, the electronica Automotive Conference will gather specialists and executives from across the supply chain to discuss electrification, sustainability, cybersecurity, and advancements in interior technologies and driver assistance systems. Notable speakers include Peter Schiefer, Automotive President at Infineon Technologies, and Gregg Lowe, CEO of Wolfspeed.
The Wireless Congress: Systems & Applications, taking place on 13th and 14th November, will bring together the global wireless community to explore the latest advancements and practical applications in wireless technologies.
CEO roundtable: leading the way to the All Electric Society
A highlight of electronica will be the CEO Roundtable, held at 5:00pm on 11th November, the evening before the trade fair begins. The discussion will focus on ‘Leading the Way to the All Electric Society’ and will feature high-profile leaders, including Jean-Marc Chery (STMicroelectronics), Jochen Hanebeck (Infineon Technologies), and Kurt Sievers (NXP Semiconductors). Barbara Bergmeier, Executive Director of Industrial Operations at Jaguar Land Rover, will join as a guest speaker.
Focus on sustainability
Sustainability will be a key theme throughout electronica. In addition to presentations and conferences, special events will focus on sustainable solutions. On 13th November, the bgreen leaders network will host a full day of discussions and presentations on sustainability and the circular economy. The All Electric Society Tour, supported by the German Electro and Digital Industry Association (ZVEI), will offer visitors a guided tour of select exhibitors, showcasing their contributions to CO²-neutral technologies.
Opportunities for young talent
As the electronics industry continues to evolve, attracting new talent remains crucial. The electronica Fast Forward platform, in collaboration with Elektor, will give start-ups the opportunity to present their innovations and compete for the Fast Forward Award. Additionally, a new influencer hub (stand B4.440) will feature prominent figures in the electronics community, including Max.Imagination, DIY GUY Chris, and GreatScott!
The Career Area (stand B4.359) will offer daily advice on career planning, job applications, and industry-specific job opportunities. On the final day of the fair, 15th November, the Young Talents Day will provide students with a dedicated programme of tours, workshops, and career advice, with free admission for participants.
Special exhibition: InnoTruck
Throughout the fair, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s InnoTruck will be stationed at the atrium between halls A1 and B1. This mobile exhibition will highlight technological innovations, from research to practical applications, while also providing insight into related career paths.
