Avnet Silica supports with Cyber Resilience Act compliance

Avnet Silica, a division of Avnet, has announced its strategic plan and capabilities to assist customers in complying with the forthcoming European Cyber Resilience Act, expected to be formally adopted later this year.

Avnet Silica is now offering comprehensive device management and provisioning services at its Logistics Centre and the largest European Product Modification Centre in Poing, Germany, aimed at ensuring secure and compliant product deployment.

The European Cyber Resilience Act introduces harmonised rules for placing products with digital components on the EU market, requiring them to be free of known vulnerabilities and secure throughout their entire lifecycle. Manufacturers must meet stringent standards, including detailed product documentation, adherence to EU cybersecurity guidelines, risk assessments, and clear strategies for handling software sourcing and security breaches. Additionally, the act enforces robust measures for device authentication, identity and access management, and the protection of data confidentiality and integrity.

To support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in navigating the complexities of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), Avnet Silica is hosting a series of five workshops across Europe, taking place in October 2024. These workshops, held in Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Poland, will feature insights from Avnet Silica’s experts and partners, offering guidance on compliance and practical solutions for enhancing the security of embedded systems and IoT devices.

Avnet Silica is offering a range of supplier-driven solutions designed to help developers meet the requirements of the CRA, including:

  • STMicroelectronics: STM32Trust, a security solution based on Arm Trustzone-M and -A technology, designed for STM32 microcontroller and microprocessor families
  • NXP Semiconductors: EdgeLock, a suite focused on enhancing the security of Edge-connected devices, available with remote device management capabilities through EdgeLock2GO
  • Renesas: security solutions for embedded systems featuring hardware-based security integrated into microcontrollers, supported by the DLM Server Tool for key injection
  • Microchip: the Microchip Trust Platform, which includes discrete secure elements such as ATECC608 and TA100, as well as integrated solutions like the PIC32CM and ATECC608
  • Witekio: a partner of Avnet Silica, Witekio offers on-demand security software and customised cybersecurity services, including workshops and fast-track Linux solutions
  • Keyfactor: a security service provider offering a combination of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Authority (CA) software with end-to-end machine identity management solutions

Romain Tesniere, Business Development Manager for Connectivity & Security at Avnet Silica, commented on the company’s commitment to supporting customer compliance: “As a strategic partner to our customers, our mission is to provide them with the tools and scalable services they need to ensure their devices are not only compliant but also equipped with the highest level of security their product classification requires. By managing device provisioning and management in-house, we give our customers full control over the process. Our scalable solutions – whether applied in-house, on the production line, or directly in the field – help bridge the gap between the wide array of tools provided by our trusted suppliers and the unique needs of our customers.”
