At the 2025 EDS Leadership Summit in Las Vegas, Paige West, Managing Editor of Procurement Pro, speaks with Roger Raley, VP and General Manager of Waldom Electronics about the company’s unique distribution model, its response to supply chain volatility, and how sustainability and efficiency sit at the core of its operations.
Waldom Electronics operates exclusively as a master distributor of electronic components. According to Raley, its core mission is to optimise inventory usage across the supply chain. The company manages surplus stock from both suppliers and distributors, ensuring it is reallocated for use rather than being scrapped. This, in turn, supports sustainability and reduces waste.
A key differentiator, said Raley, is Waldom’s ability to hold a substantial breadth of inventory which it resells to a network of more than 2,500 distributor partners. Unlike traditional distribution models that rely on rapid stock turnover, Waldom specialises in long-tail excess inventory and can hold components for extended periods until demand returns, extracting value for suppliers in the process.
On the distribution side, partners gain immediate access to hundreds of millions of dollars in inventory without the financial risk of holding it themselves – a compelling proposition in times of uncertainty.
Despite broader market softening since 2022, Waldom has thrived. The slowdown allowed it to absorb excess stock from across the channel, doubling its inventory base. Raley noted that during constrained markets, Waldom’s model offers a distinct advantage by enabling rapid fulfilment. In downturns, it acts as a buffer, allowing partners to avoid cash-intensive stockpiling while maintaining supply flexibility.
Even amid inflation, high interest rates, and global instability, Waldom’s asset-light access model helps customers maintain agility – ensuring resilience across the supply chain, regardless of market conditions.
